What is the value of your time - Success Guide

The value of your time. That is one hell of a question.

At the end of the day, deciding the value of your time really helps you make a decision as to the things you are going to do day in and day out.

If the value of your time is high, you are going to feel a lot worse wasting your time playing video games and messing around on Facebook.

So how can you calculate what your time is worth? That's a tough question.

My rule of thumb is the value of your time is what you get paid at your day job.

If you sell your time for $20/hour then that's the value of your time.

This can get quite tricky though.

What about your free time? This is where things can get complicated but the way I continue to look at it is, If I had to pay $20 to do this task, would I still do it?

For the most part, the answer is no. If that's the case then I don't do that individual task.

That's not true.

After a really long day of working 11-12 hours. If someone told me you must pay me $20 to relax for a few hours I'd tell them do you take cash or check.

So if you've put in the appropriate amount of work and deserve a break, by all mean, take it.

You must be the judge of your own decisions which is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Telling myself to just sit there and do work is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Many days I wake up in no mood to really do anything. During those days I go back to my rule of thumb and ask myself. Would I pay an extra $20 to stay in bed longer? 99% of the time, the answer is no.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to self-control. Do you have the self-control to tell yourself no? If not then this article is not for you. If not, then you need to go back to the fundamentals.
